PDRB — for Romanians in the diaspora
Dec 01, 2025
The past few days, the House of Representatives adopted the controversial Arizona coalition program law, which will directly affect over 180,000 people, including many Romanians in Belgium. From 2026, unemployment benefits will be limited to a maximum of two years, and eligibility conditions will be tightened.
For those who will no longer benefit from this aid, the only solution will be applying to public social assistance centers (CPAS/OCMW) — a bureaucratic humiliation and a risk of marginalization. These measures do not come with concrete solutions for reintegration, but only with pressure and penalties.
In parallel, other measures voted include:
Increasing VAT to 21% for fossil fuel power plants — higher costs for families.
Making family reunification more difficult — a painful obstacle for Romanians who want to bring their children or partners to Belgium.
A new concept of "adequate job", which forces the unemployed to accept any offer, under penalty.
All these changes were voted on without Romanians having any voice in the Chamber.
Why? Because we are not represented.
PDRB was born out of a clear need: to defend the rights and interests of Romanians in Belgium. We are not here just to comment on what others are doing — we are here to build, to propose, to act. We need a voice of our own in the political debate.
If we want more favorable laws for workers, for families, for young people, for entrepreneurs — then we have to be part of the political game. Let's organize, let's unite, let's be present at the decision-making table.
️ So that the voice of Romanians in Belgium counts.
️ For fairer laws and policies that support us.
️ For a future where the diaspora is listened to, not ignored.
